The second wave of COVID-19 pandemic has become a steep wall. India is adding more than 2 lakhs cases every day. It has affected cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Raipur very badly. State ministers have been appealing for steady oxygen supply in the state government.
In this episode Menaka Rao spoke to Dr Giridhara Babu, the professor and head of Life Course Epidemiology at the Indian Institute of Public Health, which is a constituent of the Public Health Foundation of India. He has been in an advisory capacity with both Karnataka state government and Bengaluru civic body.
Dr Babu said that the quantum of people who need care in the second wave has increased. He spoke about how the states need to focus on augmenting oxygen supply and hire a steady number of healthcare professionals who can help tide the current crisis.
