Ahead of the 17th Lok Sabha Election Results, Suno India reached out to Rakesh Dubbudu, an Open Data evangelist and experienced transparency (RTI) campaigner and Co-Founder of Factly to talk about the process of counting. In this episode of the series ‘Every Vote Matters’, our Editor, Padma Priya starts by telling intriguing facts and figures about the 17th Loksabha elections and how the total voter turnout this year has decreased by 2 percent than the Loksabha elections in 2014. And, our guest, Rakesh Dubbudu answers all the questions linked to the process of counting like How does the mammoth counting exercise takes place? How are all our votes counted? How long does it take? He also highlights the preparations that happen for the counting day, the counting arrangements, the number of rounds and tables that takes place for counting and different cases wherein the voter-verified paper audit trail slips are counted. Apart from this, this episode also features his take on the allegations about the Electronic Voting Machines being swapped and moved from the strong rooms and what all can be done by the Election Commission with respect to the Model Code of Conduct.
